P.S. 41 Upcoming Parent Workshops

Talking with Loved Ones about Tough Topics

 When: Wednesday, February 25th @ 8:30am

Where: P.S. 41 Auditorium

The counseling department has teamed up with Julie Larson, LCSW for an important parent workshop. Talking with our children about a loved one's serious illness or death can feel overwhelming.  Whether a parent or grandparent is ill, a friend has unexpectedly died or child simply begins to ask you big questions knowing what to say and when to say it can be a hard path to navigate.  Supporting our children in appropriate ways is dependent on many things from your child's age to your own feelings to the circumstances.  This workshop will help you prioritize important pieces of your message, find words that feel comfortable for you and learn ways to begin this ongoing conversation so you feel more in control.

DOE COLD WEATHER POLICY

Children benefit from exercise and should be given the opportunity to play outside whenever possible. Unless it is sleeting, raining, snowing or there are hazardous conditions on the playground, we will be sending students outside for recess.  Low temperatures are not a barrier to outside play, as long as children are appropriately dressed.

We ask that parents ensure that children arrive at school with appropriate attire in order to participate in the daily recess period.
